Ross RFC 2nds 5 - 35 Evesham 3rds.
Ross RFC 2nds entertained Evesham 3rds at home on Saturday and despite losing 35 - 5, gave a good showing for themselves. Evesham scored within moments of kick off, but Ross responded superbly with a squad blighted from injury and players having to step up to play for the 1st team. A quick tap penalty deep in the Evesham tewenty-two, saw No. 8 Ashley Nelmes force himself over to score. Evesham got themselves back in front just before half time but Ross always looked threatening on attack and likely to score. Some good possession in the second half from the Ross pack creeped them forward on many occasions, but the final ball just kept letting them down enabling Evesham to score tries at critical moments of the game. Some great performances and excellent tacking from centre Matty Russell, full-back Ian Davies and substitute Martin Benjamin kept Evesham at bay late on when Ross' legs were tiring. The LDW Motor Repairs man of the match was Ashley Nelmes. This week Ross RFC 2nds are away to Woodrush in a merit table league game.
