Ross 2nds 40 – 12 Ledbury 2nds
Ross 2nds entertained Ledbury 2nds in a friendly fixture and were victorious 40-12. Ross had plenty of numbers to call on and used it to their advantage to bring on fresh legs at key times although it was Ledbury got the first score under the posts.
Ross started to find their footing and winger Joe Muldowney got Ross back in the game with a try in the corner which scrum-half Craig Powell converted. Next it was fly-half Huw Bellamy who read a Ledbury pass in midfield and he intercepted to run in from 60 meters. Again Powell converted. Centre Chay Brine scored Ross’ 3rd try after linking well with Bellamy and his pace put him clear. Ledbury got their next and last try on the stroke of half time, which was converted when Ross succumbed to a lot of pressure within their 22.
Ross had the push on Ledbury in the scrums and were winning all their line outs to give them the edge in the forwards and the quality within their backs began to show through in the 2nd half. Centres Brine and Basil Parker put in some superb covering tackles along with No 8 Adam Clement and prop Ben Taylor-Davies which left Ledbury scoreless in the 2nd period.
Muldowney got his 2nd of the game and replacement flanker Henry Tilling also got in on the act with a try from 10 meters out putting the icing on the cake just before the final whistle.
Full back Wes Downing had a great match never dropping the high ball under pressure and his mazy running always causing problems, so did Ryan Keating who was confident with ball in hand, but The Drop Inn man of the match was Bed Taylor Davies for his tackling and defensive display.
