Ross on wye 47 Dursley 0

Ross produced a dominant performance last Saturday running in seven unanswered tries in a 47-0 victory over Dursley. Ross dominated territory throughout the first half ,their oppressive defence forced the errors and with ball in hand they were far more aggressive in the contact area with the whole Ross pack offering themselves time and time again as willing runners. The Dursley defence worked hard but were unable to stop wave after wave of Ross attacks.

Ross were on the scoreboard after ten minutes with winger Josh Morgan finishing off some good handling down the blindside, Thai Hayward converted and Ross were 7-0 ahead. With Dursley struggling to establish any possession in the Ross half it was only a matter of time before Ross added another score with centre Ben Element ghosting through the Dursley defence after a well timed pass from Thai Hayward. Thai added the two and Ross were 14-0 ahead after fifteen minutes. It wasn’t until a few minutes before the break that Ross added a third, again after some strong hard running from the Ross pack had put them within a few yards of the try line Captain Casey Morgan crashed over to score and Thai once again added the two and Ross went into the break 21-0 ahead.

The second half mirrored the first Dursley could not get any territory and were forced to play the rest of the game in their own half. Josh Element scored the first try getting on the end of some great handling scoring wide out on the left but Thai could not convert from the touchline. Josh Walker was the next on the score sheet, picking up a lose pass twenty metres out the defence opened up and he cantered through to score and Thai added the two putting Ross were 33-0 ahead.

Ben Element was the next to score after Basil Parker was hauled down five yards from the line, they kept the ball alive and quick hands from Dan field put Ben in to score, once again Thai converted and Ross were 40-0. Scrum half PJ Muldowney got the last score darting over from the back of a ruck and Ross ran out 47-0 winners.

This was a dominant performance from Ross with a number of players having a strong game ,but the Howle Commercial limited man of the match was Gavin Oates who time after time got Ross over the gain-line . Next Saturday Ross are away at North Bristol a 3pm kick off
