Ross RFC 2nds 56 – 0 Cheltenham Civil Service.
Ross 2nds got back into league action after a long Christmas break with a home fixture against Cheltenham Civil Service.
The game was tight for the first 15 mins with Ross looking a bit rusty, but after captain Joe Muldowney scored in the corner the floodgates opened and Ross ran in 10 unanswered tries.
Centre Kurt Pearce grabbed himself a brace after returning from a long injury and one from winger Russell Walker which was converted by Wes Downing put Ross 22 to the good by half time.
The Ross forwards zapped the energy out of the Cheltenham pack and strong runs from No 8 Dan Gould and 2nd rows Connor Challenger and Dave Mince saw Ross always getting over the gain line.
Joe Muldowney grabbed his second of the game and his hat-trick soon followed. Centre TC Leach got on the score sheet with a try under the posts which was converted by Downing, then substitute centre Kieran Smith used his strength and pace to split the Cheltenham defence to score, converted by Matthew Redman. Kieran’s brother then got in on the act with a brace of tries late on to finish the scoring leaving it 56-0 at the final whistle.
The M Gould Windows man of the match was Joe Muldowney for an all-round performance capped off with his 3 tries. Next week Ross 2nds are away to Quedgeley & Hardwick.
