Ross-on-Wye 2nds 15 – 15 Smiths 2nds
Ross 2nds entertained Smiths 2nds at Greytree and the final score of 15-15 seemed a fair result.
It was Smiths who started the brightest with their No 10 dictating the play. He opened the scoring with a solo try which he converted on 10 mins.
Scrum half Craig Powell got Ross on the score sheet with a penalty mid-way through the half and but a wayward Ross pass on their 22 was intercepted for Smiths to score in the corner.
Ross got a life line right on the stroke of half-time from a great score from Russell Walker which Powell converted.
Ross saw a lot more possession in the second half and thought they’d scored through winger Andrew Gunter, but he was adjudged to have taken 2 movements in placing the ball over the line. He was almost in again but couldn’t cling on to his brothers Rhys’ pass when the full-back broke through the Smiths defence.
Ross thought they’d scored the winner when centre Joe Muldowney chased down his own kick through to go over but in the dying seconds Smiths kicked a penalty to finish the game all square.
The Drop Inn man of the match was full-back Rhys Gunter.
This week Ross 2nds are away to Coney Hill.
