Welcome to U14

Ross Rugby Club Juniors Under 14s is a growing and friendly group. The group is run in line with England Rugby’s (RFU) core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship (TREDS). Our players are not just team members but become TEAM-MATES and are in it for each other and to enjoy the company of others both on and off the rugby pitch. Furthermore, the parents form good relationships which mean that there is a further team of support behind the players and adding to their experience of this exciting game through the sharing of the load (coaching, first aid, kit washing, catering, child protection, fixture organising, tour organisation, charitable activity planning and other admin or providing positive and encouraging support at matches).

There is a strong, well qualified and experienced coaching team who work with the players to support personal and team development. Coaches continue to refine and develop their practice and understanding of the game through gaining formal qualifications, attending on-going continual training opportunities, working with others within the club, brining coaches from elsewhere (RFU and Worcester Warriors) and using the expertise within our own team. With half of the age group selected as representatives of the Herefordshire Rugby Development Group (Herefordshire County Rugby), representation in Worcester DPP (Developing Player Pathway – age grade rugby academy programme) and further membership of Gloucester DPP; the U14 players have access to many openings to broaden and deepen their rugby though a good range of quality coaching opportunities which could lead them onto making rugby a major part of their lives. Training or matches are held every Sunday during the season from 10:00 am to noon.  In addition, mid-week training is run from 6:45pm to 8:00 pm every Wednesday.

The U14s currently go on their own rugby tour each year around Easter time and this is forms a memorable experience each season. In addition, there is an Under 14s ‘Team Day’ near the start of the season with the objective of having fun whilst helping to develop that crucial team ethic which underpins our success and the enjoyment of rugby.  Lead Coach: Adrian Osborne (called Os) – Adrian.osborne@rossrugby.co.uk (01989 720143).
